icloud outlook sync problem MAPI aplzod.dll

Hi,

I have a PC running Windows 7, Outlook 2007, itunes & icloud installed with an Iphone 7 and Ive been able to sync my contacts and calendar no problem at all until a few days ago I now get this error when I click on the icloud folder in Outlook or the icloud calendar in Outlook

The set of folders cannot be opened, an unexpected error has occurred

MAPI was unable to load the information service c:\progra ̃2\common ̃1\apple\intern ̃1\aplzod.dll. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured"

in program files (x86) theres an aplzod32.dll but no aplzod.dll

in program files theres an aplzod6432.dll but no aplzod.dll

I have tried

turning off outlook sync then re enabling outlook sync in icloud settings

repairing icloud,

uninstalling and reinstalling icloud

deleting icloud data file from outlook then re enabling outlook sync in icloud settings

but nothing has changed

Could it be related to the iphone is set to sync over wifi? Even though that setting hasnt changed

Any idea?

Thanks

Good afternoon driftysmiffy,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

As of June 15, 2017 - in order for apps like Microsoft Outlook to access iCloud data, you must now enable two-factor authentication for your Apple ID and generate an app-specific password for Outlook.  If you already have two-factor authentication enabled, learn how to set up the app-specific password below.

Two-factor authentication for Apple ID

Using app-specific passwords

Take care.

Hi, I enabled two factor verification but my outlook/icloud calendar is still missing from my computer. It is however still on my phone. Any ideas?

I think its a windows 10 update. Same problem, did a windows system restore, everything was fine. But, next time I rebooted, windows automatically updated and Shabang! back to the problem...reinstalling icloud app from apple for PC does not work....windows 10 native calendar also does not work. Stuck using icloud calendar on the web so everything syncs up. A real pain!

refer to the following for the answer that worked for me (create a registry key):

Excelent answer steerage250. I've been experimenting this issue since 15th of Juan, and your link solved it. Thank you very much!!

This article references Office 12.0.  I am running Office 16.0, and the Registry key folder "Security" does not exist under "Outlook".  I am reluctant to add it.  Are there other solutions?

Yes, after searching everything for ages this was indeed the answer. Thank yo so much!!

My guess would be to look under different "version numbers" in the registry key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security\) eg try replacing 12.0 with 16.0 or 13.0 or 14.0 or 15.0 etc, and see if the Security key exists in any of them.

I doubt that anything disastrous will happen if you create a key in the wrong spot (probably just sit there uselessly - or you can delete it again if something unexpected does happen)

Thank you very much.

Everything work now.!

Thank you so much Steerage, this cured it for me.  I am just kicking myself that I spent hours trying to fix it myself before looking for an answer on the Internet

That's what I did, found the Outlook Security registry key folder under Office 16.0, not under Office 12.0. However, it didn't solve the problem for me.

I think I have found the long term answer here.

yes, I found that link about app-specific passwords, but since I couldn't access the iCloud folder in Outlook, I couldn't work-out where to enter such a password.  Even now that iCloud is working in Outlook, I can't see where I would enter a password.

sorry, I don't have any other suggestions.
