How to find a deleted app that still shows up o...

Hi, hope you can help... I deleted an app a while back (a free video downloading app) and can't recall the name.

However, there are clearly remnants of the app still on my macbook Pro, as whenever I view a video (youtube etc), two Green 'download' boxes appear at the top (L & R) of any video.

Can anyone please help with how I might get rid of these boxes and any remaining app info on my mac?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi,

Can you click on one of the green boxes to open the app and get its name?

Knwowing the name of the App would help but in general: have a look to this articles:

https://www.cultofmac.com/90060/how-to-completely-uninstall-software-under-mac-o s-x-macrx/

https://mac-how-to.gadgethacks.com/how-to/youre-uninstalling-mac-apps-wrong-here s-remove-them-completely-0162513/

Then you can also give a try with this: https://etrecheck.com/ if you have orphans references, this should tell you where.

Hi there, thanks for your help

Yes, boxes are clickable, but merely dropdown to show a selection of available file sizes (e.g., 1080p, 720p, 480p etc)... and selecting any brings up an error message that "Safari can't open the specified address" followed by a long explanation of why not....!

Open Applications and Utilities and skim each to see if you recognize the app/utility.

Hi, have tried this too, but can't see any apps that I don't recognise.

I'm pretty sure the app itself was deleted but there are clearly residual elements that don't show up in the applications list

Without a name, I can't help, so etrecheck may be your best chance.
