Unable to pair watch series 3 with car bluetooth

Is it possible to pair apple watch series 3 with car stereo bluetooth?

I have a pioneer SPH-DA120 with Apple CarPlay and I've tried everything but no luck:

* I updated the pioneer firmware

* I deleted all the existing bluetooth connections

* I turned off my phone to make sure it wasn't interfering

 

I can initiate the pairing process and then tap confirm on the phone as well as on the stereo, but then after a few seconds the stereo shows an 'error' prompt.
