iMac (mid 2011) freezes after update to High Si...

Hi,

After an update to High Sierra my iMac freezes.

Black screen and I have to reboot using the power button.

In console/ system log I have noted the following messages:

Oct  3 08:59:40 iMac-van-Martin sudo[2021]:     root : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/ ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.common.plist name

Oct  3 08:59:40 iMac-van-Martin sudo[2023]:     root : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/ ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.common.plist user_id

Oct  3 08:59:40 iMac-van-Martin com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.pref.net-preferences): Service only ran for 0 seconds. Pushing respawn out by 10 seconds.

The iMAc is a 27 inch Mid 2011, 2,7 GHz intel core i5 with 12 Gb RAM and 256 Gb SSD hardrive that is converted to APFS under hig sierra.

My user folders are located on an external (hybrid 4TB SSD/HD) drive that remains journaled HFS+

What could be causing the problem of freezing (2-3 times / day) and how to get rid of the launchd errors?

thanks,

Martin
