Guest Network Not Working On Airport Time capsule

Whenever I enable the guest network and join it, it joins fine. but it wont load any webpages or the app store, or anything. all the devices im trying to connect, connect to the guest network fine. but they just wontt get wifi signal from the TC.

I can get the normal and 5GHz network to work.

I have the TC router connected to a Tp Link modem and setup as its own network.

If i change the router mode on the TC to DHCP and NAT it works but the amber light flashes on the TC which annoys me. then it stops working and i end up having to change under network in airport utility to off (bridge mode)

Please help somebody???

Check the client is getting proper DNS address .. there is a bunch of bugs..

The main bug is that guest network does not actually work when the TC is in off bridge mode.. it looks like it is going to work but it doesn't.

The TC must be the main router of the network..

So bridge your TP-Link and use PPPOE client in the TC if that is allowed by your ISP.

Or simply ignore the double NAT and then the light will go green and not bother you any more..

Or an even better solution.. use the TP-Link wireless for guest.. and use the TC in bridge for main network.. there is nothing wrong with doing that.. and in fact it will work far better since guest network is still sharing the wireless on the TC and slowing it down.

what do you mean? double NAT already green?

You stated the LED was flashing and bothering you.

To stop the LED from flashing amber you ignore the problem.. then it goes green.

NOTE:: the problem did not go away.. you simply stuck your head in the sand.. and now cannot see it.

To fix the problem you must eliminate the double NAT.. ie bridge the modem or the TC. but if you are happy with double NAT then that is fine.

Is Double NAT a problem? because i ignored it too...

Yeap.. it sure is..

One day you will try to load a web page that won't load.. and the reason will be double NAT.

Or play a game.. or use skype, or any sort of interactive network connection will fail.

But it works most of the time for ordinary web usage.

So what do you suggest on how to setup the ONU modemWIFI? so i can use DHCP and NAT perfectly in TC. I am very thankful for your help...

That depends on your ISP.. there may be no perfect answer to the problem. but if they use PPPoE then you do have a pppoe client in the TC and that will solve the problem..

Otherwise bridge the TC and do not use guest network.. use the wifi router for guest network.. as I already suggested.. it works much better than the TC guest system anyway.

Sorry TC plug router  - can connect  wireless with pass word  - how ever guest  net does not work  - so would appreciate  simple advice  please

because if one  net work works with password why does the guest one not work with or with out a password

Because the type of modem that you are using is not the type of modem that will allow the guest network to operate correctly.

Contact your Internet Service Provider.....ISP....and ask them if they can provide you with a simple modem.......not a modem/router, like you have now.
