can I link itunes with vudu

I use vudu almost exclusively because of its ability to cross platform from my ipad to my tv . . . is there a way to share movies I've purchased in itunes with my vudu account?

No.

Movies and TV shows purchased from the iTunes Store are still protected by DRM and can only be used in the Apple ecoverse, i.e. iPod, iPhone, iPad, iTunes for Mac, iTunes for Windows, and Apple TV.

Apple would suggest you buy an Apple TV and connect it to your TV, the Apple TV 3 is very cheap.

Buy an Apple TV?  Yeah, right.  Nice try.  Everybody is on Vudu, except iTunes.  Easier to ignore Apple and get everything else.

Hello Apple,

This is a lengthy message but one that I am guessing (not sure) is not just my own but shared with many others.  I hope someone from Apple of a consequential position will reply with a genuine response.  The market that made you so successful is not the same market that we live in today.  I'll explain more further down.

I would tend to agree.  These service providers need to remember that while they are competing against each other, the customer is the main priority so "open-sourcedness" as well as "share-friendly" is what consumers are looking for.

I have movies I purchased on Amazon Prime, I have movies I purchased on FandangoNOW, I have movies I purchased on VUDU, I have movies I purchased on other services like CinemaNow, on and on and on.  I would LOVE to be able to sync them all together and provide them as part of my iTunes library, with Apple coming out looking the hero.

The point for Apple is "Hey, we care about our customers and we want to provide you the "all-in-one" and "one-stop-shop" services that you desire and we're going to allow you to purchase movies from us, and the other guys too!" but the business case for Apple is "We still know you'll buy our iPhones, iPads, iPods, and laptops/desktops!!!!"  It is a WIN WIN WIN for everyone here and Apple you need to wake up and realize that blocking everyone else out and demanding that everyone follow your way has lead you to success in the early days of the market but that is not where we are headed now!  If I find a better price on another service, I'll buy it there as long as the quality is great!  If you don't like it Apple, either  provide the movie at the same quality and the same price or make your systems compatible to connect and associate with the other apps!

Fact remains that on my Samsung SmartTV with an enhanced computer added to it STILL does not have an iTunes app so why would I buy an additional "Smart" box just to get your services - and have to literally switch from one to the next instead of using ALL the other providers of movies on my own TV without having to change input!  Come on now, openness and connectivity and integration is the way the market is already headed and you're a day late and a few milion short.  It's time to quit taking the ball, throwing a fit and going home because the game isn't being played exactly like you like it.

Now, don't feel special, I have a similar message about integration issues that I am taking up with Amazon as well.  I don't like attempts to monopolize the industry or say "You either choose between football or me, your wife....it's one or the other!!!" ultimatums!  That's not how to win over customers or keep them.

I am a relatively new customer to Apple as I have been an Android / Samsung user for like 10 years or so (maybe a little less but that sounds right) so moving to Apple products was very hard but I like what you have to offer - EXCEPT for this primary issue that I've wanted to address with you since the first iPhone was developed!

Thanks for listening.  I hope someone of consequence from Apple actually replies to this because I think it is more than just my own concern but likely a community concern.

Thanks again,

Ditto!  Hear! Hear!

Yes but if we buy from Vudu, these show up in itunes.  why not the other way around?  I've stop purchasing in itunes and purchase through vudu.

How about digital downloads.  If I buy a  blue-ray with a digital download if I link it to my ultraviolet I get in in itunes, vudu, basically everywhere.  If I link it only to itunes I'm stuck only in itunes.

Your Vudu purchases show in iTunes? How are you doing this? A setting somewhere? I have never seen a Vudu purchase show in iTunes.

Disney Movies Anywhere is being phased out and is being moved to Movies Anywhere. It’ll let you link your iTunes, GooglePlay, Vudu, and Amazon Video accounts.

It doesn’t link TV shows, but it consolidated the Movies I’ve gotten from all those different services and, for some reason, added a few bonus movie to my account.
