How to get messages on mac mini?

I run a mac mini with version 10.7.5 os x, how do i get messages on my computer? I've got iChat but I can't find messages anywhere or a download link in the app store?

Any help would be appreciated.

Whilst reading this post it's came from the options that there are now newer operating systems available, perhaps this is why? If so how do I go about updating it?

You are running OS X Lion, and Messages is available in OS X Mountain Lion.

First, check that your computer is compatible > https://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it is, open the Mac App Store and purchase OS X Mountain Lion. While it's being downloaded, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your applications are compatible > https://www.roaringapps.com

When the download finishes, the OS X Mountain Lion installer will appear, so follow the steps. After upgrading, you will have Messages instead.

There was a Messages beta for Lion but it expired, so it's not possible to use it
