How to locate my files if I don't know where th...

So I have had an iPod for eight years. Since then, I have had multiple computers and multiple phones/ipods. I cannot find music that I purchased on my phone, and it says I purchased it, but neither iTunes nor I know where the files are.

Did I lose half of my music because the files may not have transferred from my old laptop (which broke)?
