Need recommendation for back up device

I have a MacBook Pro ( (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) with Parallels.  Please recommend a back up device to purchase with this computer.

will you have windows-formatted drives to be backup up? what application or backup method will you be using for those drives?
