Problem with new HDD on Sierra.

I just bought a WD elements 1TB HDD today. When I plugged it into my computer it was in NFTS, I wanted to fix this by changing to MAC OS EXTENDED through the Disk Utility App so I could start using my HDD. What happened was that Disk Utility told me that I had 0KB left on my HDD. I tried to download a program called Paragon NTFS (it would allow me to have the option to switch back to NTFS). I tried to switch back to NFTS but it told me I didn’t have enough space on my HDD to do it and it continued with an error...I don't know what to do from here. I can't get the HDD to mount or show up anywhere but Disk Utility, can I please get some help? It would mean a lot!

I'm on MacOS 10.13 High Sierra.

MacBook Pro, Retina, 13-Inch, Early 2015

Get rid of Paragon NTFS, because you don't need it unless you require your hard disk drive to work with Windows PCs.

Reformat the drive according to Disk Utility for macOS Sierra: Erase a volume using Disk Utility. Choose the hard disk drive icon, not a volume icon that may appear beneath it.
