Macbook Pro gets hot when using Safari

late 2014 MBP 256 SSD 13.3'' display

The past 6-8 weeks when I use Safari the computer gets very hot in the upper right corner (near the power button on the keyboard.) The fan will start to run and then will spool up to full speed. As soon as I stop using Safari it starts to cool down and within a few minutes it is noticeably cooler to the touch and the fan stops. It doesn't make a difference if I am plugged in or on battery power. I've tried restarting with some sort of shift, command option combination to reset a controller (?), a friend had suggested this. I have Apple Care until the end of November. I'm not planning on updating this for at least another year.

You'd better contact with Apple Support or make Genius Bar appointment to determine if it's a hardware related problem or not.

I'm trying to understand how it could be hardware related if it is just Safari that causes it to run hot. I can spend nearly all day in Photoshop and Illustrator and have no problems. If it were hardware wouldn't most programs cause a similar problem?
