USB storage devices not working after High Sier...

After I upgraded my Macbook pro-2017 (non-touchbar) to high-sierra the USB storage devices stopped showing up. I have tried two different USB-c SanDisk pen drives and one traditional USB drive using the official USB-c display adapter (USB-C + VGA + USB).

 

When I navigate to /volumes/(name_of_usb) I can see all the files stored on the device, but when i try to open a finder window or any of the files nothing seems to
