How do I remove MacCleaner from MacBook Pro

While searching/listening to music on-line on the MacBook Pro, a user in my household clicked on "Adobe Flash Player update" somehow resulting in MacCleaner to be installed on the computer. This has resulted in a bogus search screen opening whenever a new tab is opened in Safari. I moved the app to the trash and deleted trash, but it persists. At the bottom of the tab window are choices "contact" "privacy" "terms""uninstall". Choosing uninstall results in a message saying Safari can't find the web server.

I want this off my computer!

Yes, that's because most Adobe Flash Player downloads are bogus and contain adware. Only update Flash Player from either within System Preferences > Flash Player > Updates or from Official Adobe website.

Please download and run EtreCheck. It is a diagnostic tool that's very useful to us in finding problems. It will show you exactly where the adware is still installed. After it runs post the log file here. It will contain no personal information.
