Macbook Pro 15in mid 2012 Non

Macbook Pro 15in mid 2012 Non-Retina Freezes randomly. OSX 10.7.4. Do not have Google Chrome installed. I have to press the power button to restart. Any idea how to fix this?

When ever the computer restarts it looks like this:

Take it back for service or replacement.

It doesn't stay like this permanently.

Do not take it back for repair/service. Take it back and get a Full Refund and then buy another that works correctly.

You bought a New computer, that should work correctly. Not one that has been worked on to make it work correctly. That is not a new computer, it is a Used computer. IMHO.

The downfall is, I am not in the states right now. I purchased it online.

In that case contact AppleCare.

Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 or visit online Help for more information.

Thanks Kappy.

I had the same problem.  Apple will replace a brand new set for me.

I would like to share my experience with the random freezing on my brand new Retina MacBook Pro.

This may apply to non-Retina and MacBook Airs, too.

My rMBP had randome freezes; seemingly starting from Safari, then spreading to the whole system, refusing to launch programs, etc., forcing me to restart every 1-2 hours. There was just no other way to come out of this coma other than forced rebooting.

Tried all the usual recommended remedies, but nothing worked. It's been about 2 weeks like this.

Then I remembered from my past experiences that with every new hardware there seemed to be issues with graphics card/driver. I did the following and so far I havent' had a crash for 24 hours and counting.

-------------------------------

1. Turn OFF "automatic graphicss switching". You can do this in System Preference>Energy Saver. It's the top tick box. Untick for both AC Power and Battery Power.

2. Turn OFF "automatically adjust brightness". System Preference>Displays.

-------------------------------

Can't tell if it's the combination of the two or one effecting the other, but seems to work!

I have a feeling it's the "automatically adjust brightness" could be the culprit.

I'm at update 10.7.4.New MacbookPro 13" Non-REtina MD101, i5.

My mouse pointer and keybord doesn't respond for 20 seconds every 20-30 seconds or so. Got this Mac 4 days ago and had no isseus for the first few days.

Please Apple let us know if this is a software bug update error, or time for us to get a replacement.

PS: It took me like 5 mins to write this between all the freezing....no... here it goes......30 seconds later....again.

Just posting now, frustrated!!!

Really take it back and get your money back or a new unit.

No New computer should be doing this and you should not put up with it. Doesn't matter whether it is hardware or software. When you take a New Computer out of the Box it should run with NO problems and continue to run with No problems for a Long time.

I understand your logic here, but I don't want to Migrate my old stuff over to yet another system(7 hours +....), only to find out this is a software issue. If I lived in the USA or EU going to an Apple store for a new one would have been no problem.

I'm in Africa and really need this stuff to work so that I can work. I have an old 17 inch MacBookPro and it has never given me any isseus in the last 48 months. I was super excited to upgrade to an i-core intel MacBook Pro but with the freeze issues and the newly discovered USB isseus I've lost my spark with this new machine. Will be playing games on my i3 Windows 7 PC till these issues are resolved...

PS: After reading LOTS of support forums today it seems this is a massive problem for many people, now we just hope this IS SOFTWARE, and Apple won't have to RECALL MILLIONS of their Machines. But Apple if we need to send you our Macs back let us know soon, thx!

FIXED!

Ok so I have a NEW NON-Retina MAcbookPro 13 inch.

My mac froze and I had no USB support, so I downloaded and installed this:

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1542

and now it is all working 100% so far. My USB 3 Drive and my USB Mouse is working, and no more freezing!

Yay!

Thanks for this info.  I have been dealing with this for a long time now.  Did what you said and so far (more than 12 hours) no freezes.
