icloud trouble

About a year ago my stepmom gave me her ipad. Before receiving it, she reset it, so my account could be added instead of hers. I have recently found out that "sometimes my email syncs to her iPhone from my ipad" I had no idea this has been going on, but since I do now I would like to get it fixed asap. Would resetting the ipad again fix this?
