How to free some space on MacBook Pro

When I try to back up my iPhone 7 I get an error that I don't have enough space

So you're good to go?

Hi,

If you haven’t yet done so, backup in case you delete something you wish you hadn't. Then use one or more of the following to see exactly where your space is being used, then transfer/delete larger files until you increase the available space to at minimum 10GBs and that will do for now; do not transfer/delete anything unless you're sure of what it is, and not something the OS needs:

https://www.omnigroup.com/more (OmniDiskSweeper)

https://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net (Grand Perspective)

I just realized in iTunes under iPhone backup iCloud was marked when I received the message.

So you're good to go?

No.  Still having issues.

How much free space do you have available on your Mac, and how much are you trying to download from your iPhone?

As much as possible. iTunes error states I don't have enough space to back up to time machine or to backup to iCloud.

Again, "How much free space do you have available on your Mac, and how much are you trying to download from your iPhone?"

Or are you not really trying to backup to your Mac, but really trying to backup to Time Machine somehow?

There was an issue with the hard drive -- Apple Support helped me do an erase and factory restore. So, problem solved. Thank you.

You're welcome. Glad you got it worked out.
