How do I remove an orphan icon from my menu bar?

My OS (macOS Sierra 10.12.6), left behind a 'Malwarebytes' icon that I've been unable to 'Control+drag' to the trashcan.

If the above doesn't work, try command - drag.

Have you check to be sure that the app is not still running?

Thank you for the reply, Allen.

The app was deleted from my system, as I didn't see an actual "unstall" program.  The orphan still resides in the menu bar.

Ive 'control dragged' the icon to the trashcan, but the pesky thing rises back up to torture me.

Thanks for your assistance, the Malwarebytes 'uninstall program actually did the trick when all else failed.  There wasn't enough of the original Malwarebytes program remaining within the OS to do a complete and thorough removal of the orphan icon.
