Wake on lan not working on late 2013 MacbookPro...

I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro with Sierra installed. My network card supports ‘wake for wifi network access’. The Macbook is attached to a power outlet and I have port 7 forwarded to the Wifi card’s ip address. I tried subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.255.255. Nothing seems to work if I want to wake the Macbook from sleep. A VNC service works nicely on the Macbook though. Has anybody has any ideas or similar experiences?

Card type: AirPort Extreme  (0x14E4, 0x112)

Firmware version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.21.171.130.1a1)
