iCloud confusion

When I initially got my iPad, I turned on the iCloud.  The only e-mails I ever got on the iCloud were frm one family member.  OK, so I decided to turn off iCloud for both my phone and pad.  Problem is..........I am not getting her e-mails on my regular e-mail account any more.  I am very confused.....I don't know 1. why it ws hers only that I was getting on there and 2. what I can do to get them back.  An urelated 3. would be why I needed iCloud anyway?  Help with #2 would be greatly appreciated.

I've had the same hotmail account for 12 years..........should I bite the bullet and switch to a gmail account so I can delete the e-mails off of multiple devices?  Seems like a pain in the rear, but I really want to be able to use e-mail on my pad, phone and computer and right now because of the Hotmail, I can't do that.  Hummmm....

My question is....where are all the photos I backed up. I've erased them off my iPad and can't seem to find out how to retrieve them. Anyone know the answer?

You need to post your own topic with your own issue, not highjack someone else's thread. You are showing very poor manners!

You can use Hotmail with an iCloud account. You just need to go into the Hotmail configuration and direct Hotmail to forward your mail to the iCloud account. I forward two Gmail accounts and a Hotmail account to my new iCloud account.

In your hotmail account go to Options, More Options, Forwarding email.

In the long run, you will be  better off posting your own question anyway. Many new community members will add a post to a very old discussion that has been long abandoned and they never get the help that they are seeking.
