Early 2009 iMac replacement hard drive

i have an early 2009 iMac (20 inch) EMC 2266.  i want to replace the hard drive with an SSD. are there restrictions on the SSD i can use?  (I have an almost new WD 2TB SSD drive formatted for a NAS.  Can that be used?).
