Yesterday my notes were on my MAC (good)

Hi - My Notes are something I rely on for work (and this MacBook Pro) is a work laptop (macOS Sierra 10.12.6).

Yesterday all was well and then I got a storage notification and tried to move select files to the cloud that were not work specific. I don't know what went wrong but all my notes were on my Mac yesterday and today, they all are on iCloud - which is not what I want. How can I either reverse this or copy them back to my local drive? I only saw instructions on exporting to .pdf but that is not what I need. I logged into my web iCloud and looked at the notes app but the settings in the lower left did not seem to even open. Please help. Thanks.
