Apple Watch and AirPods In and Out signal

Greetings, I just received my new Apple Watch Series 3 and tried using it tonight with my AirPods while walking my dog.  I had synched a few playlist with the watch and paired the AirPods.  I left my phone in the house.  Everything started fine but after walking a while the AirPods would drop out and the music would skip, then try to catch up quickly.  It was as bad as my Beats wireless and that's not a good thing.  Anyone else have an issues with their connection popping in and out?  Thoughts>?

It may help to reset your AirPods and set them up again via your iPhone and/or to unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch:
