iPhone text sent to iPad

Can I receive text messages from my I phone on my iPad? My phone is dead and having new sent, in the meantime can I still get my messages?

iOS continuity allows sharing messages between an iPhone and an iPad. But, both devices must be functional, must be powered on and must be connected to the same wifi network for iOS continuity to work.

If the iphone is dead, then no, there is no way to get SMS/MMS messages sent to the iPhone forwarded to the iPad since the iPhone cannot receive them in the first place.

It depends on if you had it set up to start with. It requires you to use Continuity. See the information here. Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support  See the SMS section. If you had iMessage on for the iPad and had your Apple ID email set up, then you could get iMessages to that if the sender uses your email. You will not be able to receive SMS from non-iOS devices unless you have Continuity set up.

If it was not configured to start with, then you will not.
