Publishing audiobooks on iTunes

Hi,

I have 3 audiobooks (mp3) I would like to sell on iTunes. Does anyone have a link to requirements and procedures to publish AUDIOBOOKS on iTunes?

I've found information about music and ebooks, but nothing on Audiobooks. Please help!

To the best of my knowledge, all audiobooks sold by the iTunes Store are provided by Audible.com, so you'd have to contact Audible to inquire about publishing your audiobooks.

I really hope that's not the case becasue Audible told me they only accept audiobooks that have a printed copy or an ebook version. Utterly disappointing...

The iTunes Store doesn't have public phone numbers. You can try the email for iTunes Marketing:

iTunesMarketing@apple.com

and see if you can get a definitive answer. Since the iTunes Store doesn't list audiobooks as content they accept here, though:

and makes no mention of it anywhere else I can find, it would seem likely that my original statement is correct. If so, you'd have to build your audiobook as an app and submit as an app developer, or perhaps build the audio track into an iBook, though a straight audiobook without print or interactive content might not be accepted as an iBook.

I wrote to the marketing department 3 days ago and I'm still waiting for an answer. Fingers crossed!

In the meantime, I will explore the option of working with an Apple-approved agregator.

Apple requires that all audiobooks get published through Audible. They do not publish on their own. It's really kind of sad.

I have a book that I wanted published as well and I went to a company called Open Book Audio (www.openbookaudio.com). They were able to get my book on audible, iTunes and a bunch of other places. They've been terrific to work with and I've really enjoyed it. You should check them out. They work with self-published authors (like me) and I would recommend them to anyone wanting to self-publish an audiobook.

Authors Republic I found to be great to deal with. They successfully submitted my Cinderella's Secrets - The Untold Story of Ella on Audible and iTunes (not visible on iTunes yet).
