Updated to 10.3.2..within coolwriter app it sai...

After IOS update to 10.3.2 When I went into my Coolwriter App I got an Apple message that said " this app will not be compatible with future updates" coolwriter needs to update. What happens if they do not? Will I lose all my notes within the app?

It means that if the developer of that app doesn't update this app for all 64 bit code and for the up and coming all 64 bit coded iOS 11, this app will no longer function when iOS 11 is released and installed on your iPad in the Fall of 2017.

You will need to find a compatible replacement app.

Good Luck to You!

Thank you...I contacted the developer to find out if they are going to update the App. I am waiting to see what they say. My whole life is in that Coolwrite "note" app. Are you familiar with the Coolwriter app? I have tried with no luck to find a replacement. I love Notebooks by DroidVeda but that is a Googleplay(android) app and I only use my IPADS. If you look at that android app it is a beautiful and functional app. There is nothing like it in the App store...unless you or someone else may know.

If they don't update the app, you will need to offload the data to a offsite data cloud sevice, like DropBox and find another updated app that is close in functionality to the one you currently use.

I find that Notability, Notes Plus and Penultimate with using DropBox as my cloud, offsite data storage service of choice meets all of my notes needs.

I have a photo/image sorting, image folder organisation app I have been using for the last 7 years, called HD Photo Sort, that I will need to find a compatible replacement for, as its developer hasn't updated this app in over two years and I think its developer is NOT going to be upgrading/updating this app, at all for iOS 10 OR 11, so I have been on the hunt for a more similar and recent replacement for this 32 bit only app.

You may have no choice, but to do the same.

Good Luck to You!

I had another question maybe you can answer. I just updated my Ipads to 10.3.2 and was very happy to find my storage went from about 700mb to 2.3 gb. I could not believe it! In looking at what is taking up the most space I noticed the mail app(the one that is pre installed) is taking up 130 mb on one IPAD and 240 mb on the other. Do you know why such a big difference? Certain apps like Instagram I can understand why the big difference but not mail. Thanks.

It means that the app u may be using has not been updated to the recent version of apple so u are unable to use that app unless u downgrade your device..

Are both iPads using iOS 10 or is one of the iPads on iOS 9.3.5?

As of iOS 10.3, Apple optimised iOS 10 for the up and coming iOS 11, stripping out much of the uneeded bits of code associated with older 32 bit coded apps.

So, this returned quite a few GBs of free data storage space back to newer iDevices.

Older iDevices, stuck on iOS 9.3.5 do not get this system data optimisation.

Yes..both IPADS are running 10.3.2. I just was wondering why the storage usage on the mail app would be so different on both my IPAD airs.

One might have more mail stored locally on one iPad than the other, possibly?

Both my IPADS are in sync. I have the exact same mail/folders on both. It is not really important I just would like to know why there was such a big difference in storage usage. I appreciate you trying to help.

Hi Olifromny. If your Mail is using IMAP (the default) to access mail servers, messages are not stored on your device, only buffered. The content is removed automatically from the device to save space, leaving only the header/summary. So, more content is currently buffered on one device than the other.

One change with iOS 10.3 that MichelPM didn't mention is that it includes the new 64-bit AFS file system, replacing Apple's venerable HFS. This is touted as more efficient, and results in some increase in free storage.

I'm in the same boat.  Reluctantly, I had to update to iOS 11.  PhoneClean messed up my phone.  It gave me back 4GB of space, but it also made my phone unconnectable to iTunes.  So I can't do any backups or syncs.  And the only option I got was to restore as a new phone.  So I had no choice.  Which meant, I lost access to Cool Writer.  My favorite note taking app.  Simple and to the point.  Also loved that you can organize each note into separate Folders.  Don't know of any other app that can do that.

I did have the presence of mind to export all my notes.  Via email, and compressing all of them into one zip file.  Which I emailed to myself.  Now I just have to find a similar app that will be able to import the Cool Writer txt/rtf notes I backed up.  So before you do anything, make sure to back up your "life" from Cool Writer.  If you have a Dropbox account, you can upload them to there as well.

I too am waiting to hear back from the developer.  Their site is still up.  So hopefully they are still in business.

There are LOTS of note apps that can create folders!

Here's a handful.

Notability

Good Notes

Notes Plus

Top Notes
