I recently bought a BM-800 condenser mic and it got it up and running perfectly fine on my Windows desktop, however I cannot get it working on my Macbook Pro. I've read that you need an adapter so I bought a StarTech audio splitter but it didn't work either, I also read that I might need a Mono XLR output cable instead of the Stereo one that comes with it so I ordered that and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated

An unpowered microphone requires a pre-amplifier to boost the signal levels up high enough to be suitable.
