Song play counter does not change

Hey all:  Over the past week, my iTunes "song plays counter" stopped working (i.e., not matter how many times I play a song the counter doesn't change).  And iTunes does not show the song as "last played" either.  Spoke with iTunes support yesterday, we uninstalled ALL Apple software and reinstalled a freshly downloaded latest version of iTunes.  But that did not help.  I've purchased songs since the problem appearedy and they're in the library as are my new podcasts....so that's good.  But I'd really like to have a working version of my play counter. BTW, I'm using Windows 10.  After the above, iTunes support said they didn't know what was wrong and said I should contact Windows support.  I haven't done that yet but figure they'll just point back to iTunes.  Thanks, in advance, for any ideas on how to fix
