Can I recover an Apple Music playlist?

I have family sharing set up and pay for a family membership in Apple Music.  I accidentally removed a family member and her painstakingly compiled playlists are now gone, even though she's now back in the 'family'.  I there any way to recover them?  Would restoring from a backup do it or is that not included?

I had the same problem.

Fortunately I had iTunes on my Mac and it had not had the chance to sync with Apple Music.  I turned off wifi before opening iTunes (so it wouldn't sync).  I then right clicked the playlist in iTunes and selected 'duplicate'.

When I turned wifi back on the first playlist was lost during the Apple Music sync, but the duplicate remained.  I also took screenshots of the playlist before I reconnected the Mac to the Internet in case it didn't work.

Hopefully you have the playlist in the iTunes app on your Mac, or you have a Time Machine backup of your iTunes library.  If you recover iTunes from backup, and don't have the Internet connected, you should see the playlist in question after the Time Machine recovery.  This same technique works with losing IMAP or Exchange email.  The key is to copy the item before the application has a chance to sync with the cloud.
