Playlists not appearing

I have an iPod 7th Generation for a while now and until recently I was able to create playlists in iTunes and the playlist and songs would be synced across to the iPod.  However, now I am only able to copy across the songs; the playlists no longer appear (but please note that all of the songs in the playlist are on the iPod)

If I change the playlists that I want synced the songs change accordingly but no playlists appear and are able to be selected anymore

I have tried both resetting the iPod and a full factory reset but to no avail

Can anyone help?
