iTunes Library and my iPhone

I have music on my iTunes library from my iPod on a Mac book. 

I have music on my iTunes library from my iphone6 on my Mac (which no longer works). 

When I plug my iPhone into my Mac book the library has all the music from the iPod which I would like on my iPhone. I now want to use this library as the library for my iPhone. 

I know this is confusing! I hope it makes sense to someone! 

I have read somewhere that the iPhone can only be connected to one device/library but what happens when that device no longer works??
