How do I get rid of this popup? I tried.

Screen Shot 2016-04-09 at 5.07.44 PM.png

I have tried the settings, the firewall, deleting it, but it just comes back.

Where is this thing hiding?  I use AT&T, there was a problem with the settings in my e-mail. I used them to fix my situation but I cannot get rid of this bloody thing.

Thanks in Advance.

I'm using OS 10.10.5.

Remove the "ATT" folder.

this comes from the AT&T software

Deny the applciation

delete the AT&T troubleshooter application from the applications folder.

If it is persistent beyond deleting the app you may have to track down

Check your >System preferences>Users&Groups>Login Items   Delete from the list

Also from Folder

/Library/StartupItems

Thanks for the reply.. with a but

I've done the deny, I have removed att from the Applications folder, I've done the Privacy>Accessibility>and removed the app (I forget what its called) but it comes back.

I went to the Firewall and removed the blocked app.

And it just keeps popping back up again. Its hiding somewhere

You could try using Find any File to search for files associated with that application.

By the way... just a general word of advice, don't let AT&T install anything on or remotely control your computer... ever.

Thanks, but..

Library folder>Startups, was empty.

The user group only had a HP app not selected in it.

Yes its a mystery.

I've tried that, I've denied, got rid of "stuff" and they come back.

I didn't want to Allow them in (I never do but...) but I really needed help.

Thanks.

I think this might be happening through Safari. I was just in Console.

May 19 14:04:37 MY COMPUTER NAME.att.net Alert Detector[3355]: [AppDelegate applicationActivated:] info = com.apple.Safari (3406) (expect: 3406) - <Observer: 0x7f888b4169a0>

May 19 14:04:37 MY COMPTER NAME.att.net Alert Detector[3355]: [Observer processActivation] webkitVersionNum = 10600

I restarted my computer>Safari> then Console, I can see the path where that Alert Detector app is (in bold) will REMOVING the bin folder (holding the Detector .app in it) fix my problem? Or will it cause me more harm, or should I trash the entire ATT folder? thanks.

5/19/16 2:55:08.180 PM universalAccessAuthWarn[437]: AccessibilityAPI: pid 356, is not allowed to access the accessibility API. Path: /Library/Application Support/ATT/8.5.1.16/bin/Alert Detector.app/Contents/MacOS/Alert Detector

Remove the "ATT" folder.

Open the Terminal application (Launchpad : Other : Terminal). Type only the blue text.

# Look for a package name that contains att or alert. When you see it, select it, and copy to the clipboard (command+C), then press 'q'.

$ pkgutil --pkgs | grep -i "att|alert"

# List all files that were installed by the att package that you paste here

$ pkgutil --files (press command+V) > ~/Desktop/attcrap.txt

You can open that text file on your desktop in TextEdit, and then track them down in the Finder.

Have you checked your System Preferences : Users & Groups : Login Items?

Thanks.

A couple of posts up, I mentioned I found the ATT folder. There are about 2000 items to delete. Which I'm doing.

"stevejobsfan0123" said to remove the ATT Folder.  Hopefully that will do it.

If not I'll try Terminal.

I just hope this Deletion will only affect the Alert app. If it does, I'm going to blame, stevejobsfan0123

self edit: YepI did all the Sys Prefs, users, Security.....

I have trashed and deleted that folder. We'll see what happens.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts/help.

JimmyCMPIT's guidance worked for me.

In the Firewall Options, I had chosen to Block incoming connections from "Alert Detector.app".

In the Applications / AT&T folder resided an Uninstall app (along with the Troubleshooting app).

I double clicked on the Uninstall app and both apps and the folder went poof. Problem appears to be completely solved.

glad you got it thwarted!
