Remote Storage on Cloud ?

Dear Readers:

I have limited space on my HD and I do not want to use portable HDs. I have approximately 1.5Tb of data and it will obviously grow, specially since i am storing high resolution pictures.

I bought 2TB space on iCloud to store all my 1.5Tb and started moving data from my external HD to iCloud drive (in finder), however i realised there was no space left on my MacBook Pro's HD. All the data was being stored on my Mac Book's HD. Can anyone please help? So far all i have read had been of no help. I want all my data , RAW Pictures from Full frame camera and Excel, Powerpoint , word documents, (like all normal data). all of it on cloud and not on my MacBook Pro
