Heart recovery feature never works...

This problem has driven me crazy because it's so baffling... and it was one of the reasons I bought the watch to begin with (the cool heart features).

My girlfriend and I bought 2 brand new Apple Watch 3 LTE watches about a week ago.

We've both ran together and have completed 7 or 8 runs that range from .5 miles to 5 miles. We're using "outdoor run" on the work-out app.

On every run, the heart rate for the actual workout works FLAWLESS (perfectly spaced measurements), but when I look at the recovery graph its always a single red dot/reading... as if it only measured my heart a single time.

On 1 or 2 workouts, I did actually get more than one dot, but it was very sparse, maybe 5 or 6 dots spread out unevenly and it makes no sense.

My girlfriends heart recovery graphs look perfect. I can't figure out if she's doing something different, but I don't think so.

Here's my thoughts...

- I don't think it's the sensor being broken, because it measures my heartbeat perfectly nearly 24/7, and every chart looks great

- I don't think it's the connection to my wrist for the same reason, I don't change anything when I'm done with my workout, and I don't do anything stupid like take the watch off or start trying to touch it/move it around.

At first I thought MAYBE it's because you're suppose to include the warm-down walk IN the workout itself (before hitting end). I tried this instead, and it improved the graph by maybe ... 10%, but it still looks very bad.

I've done everything that Apple recommends

- I reset running calibration data

- I re-paired the watch and ruined all my settings

- I've made sure the connection is good and the watch is tight

Here's an example of 2 runs I did to show you what I mean:
