internet connection is very slow lately

My Imac is a late 2015 model and it has been working great but since last week the internet connection is very slow. i keep getting messages that there's no internet connection but when I run diagnostics everything is fine. I'm using a wifi connection. Can someone help me please?

I have OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6

Have you reset your modem and router and run a speed test?
