iTunes 12 and apps

It appears that the most recent version of iTunes (12+) prevents users from maintaining their iOS apps.  Either that or they have hidden the option.  I never download anything to my iOS devices, I always go through my Mac Book Pro.  Can this still be done?

Good afternoon JSMichalek,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

Starting with iTunes 12.7, the procedure for managing your iOS apps has changed.  Everything is now done directly from the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.  Take a look at the resource below:

Changes in the new iTunes

The new iTunes focuses on music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks. Apps for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch are now exclusively available in the new App Store for iOS. And the new App Store makes it easy to get, update, and redownload apps—all without a Mac or PC.

You'll find these changes in the new iTunes:

Manage media, files, and other content on your iOS device

Connect your iOS device to your computer with a USB cable to sync music, movies, TV shows, and audiobooks using iTunes. You can also back up your device using iTunes.

If you want to copy files between your computer and apps on your iOS device, use File Sharing.

You can find iOS apps, ringtones, and books (PC only) that you've already downloaded in your iTunes Media folder.

If you have an iOS app, ringtone, or book that's no longer available for redownload, you can move that content to your iOS device while plugged in to a computer with a USB cable.
