Browser problems (safari and chrome)

Whenever I try to open safari, it redirects me to a random site and almost immediately crashes. And with chrome sometimes when I click, it opens a new tab that usually takes me to a site saying i need to update adobe flash player (this is probably a trick to get more malware on my computer so I always close the tab immediately). I've already tried using Malwarebytes to get rid of whatever is causing this, but it keeps saying my computer is clean, even though safari and chrome continue to have the problems stated above. I am using a MacBook air and would love it if I could get some advice on how to solve this problem. Thank you.
