Which Macbook is right for me?

I own an iPhone 6S (Am going to update to an iPhone 8+ as soon as my contract runs out, and give my current iPhone to my mum, who has an iPhone 5C.), and today I purchased an Apple Watch. I currently have a windows laptop, but I've wanted to make the switch to a Macbook for several years now, but never been in the money situation to purchase one. I now have come to a deal with my mum as to buying it by splitting the money, so really I'm looking at a cheaper model.

I'm currently in high school, but I'm looking at going into music/music production in sixth form and hopefully uni, and that's one of the main reasons I'm looking into one, as I really need garage band for school. Other than garage band, I'll probably only be listening to music, watching YouTube, searching the web and perhaps doing some very light video editing.

What would you recommend? I don't want an Air (not keen on the design, I really don't like the silver around the screen.) I also don't want to completely break the bank, especially as my mum would be having to buy it on financing. I don't even know if I'm going to buy directly from Apple (Argos has some good deals, and we have an Argos card so we can pay it off.) If you guys can help, I'll be very thankful. Thank you! x

I would recommend getting the 12-inch MacBook, you can get the entry level model: Buy MacBook - Apple.

You may be able to trade in your Windows laptop to get some credit towards it: Mac Trade-up - Apple. You might get more money by selling to a third party.

Another way to save money is to buy refurbished: Refurbished MacBook - Apple. These laptops have the same quality as new, and come with the same one-year warranty with the option of purchasing an extended warranty, just like a new Mac would.
