Is traffzilla.xyz a virus or malware? How can I...

Hi,

Sometimes, when my home Wi-Fi becomes slow and I type a URL in a new tab in Chrome and hit enter, I can see a different URL than the one I typed for a split second - that URL is traffzilla.xyz. It looks to me like a sort of tracking software, such as a virus or a malware, but I couldn’t find anything about it specifically online.

I did see somewhere a recommendation to clear browsing data and uninstall all extensions, as a response to a similar question. I did that, but this behaviour doesn’t always happen, and it’s hard to reproduce. Is there a chance it helped? What is this URL, anyway? If it’s a virus of sorts - how can I be sure I get rid of it?

Thanks a lot in advance.

there are no (as of yet) virus for OS X in the wild, but there are a number of malware and adware variants for Mac; nowhere near the number for Windows but they are out there.

you can check your system for adware or malware with Etrecheck or the free version of Malwarebytes
