My watch timer stops the music while I'm trainn...

While trainning I use the watch timer to keep track of the resting intervals, I also use my Airpods to listen to music connected to my spotify account on my phone. Everytime the timer goes off it vibrates the watch and also stops the music. Before the new IOS I would be able to listen to the music nonstop and have the watch vibrating on my wrist to alert me. How do I get the setup back?
