Apple Watch workout app randomly starts

My series 2 Watch has begun randomly starting and pausing the workout app about a week ago now. The last 2 nights it has started while sitting undisturbed on my nightstand. 

I’ve made sure the app on my 7 Plus was not on and paused. I closed all open apps, powered off phone and watch then restarted the phone before the watch. A few minutes later the workout app started again. Both devices are running the latest software. Has anyone found a solution to this yet?
