iTunes match ate my library

i've found time and again songs disappeared from my library. now i am sitting down and going through all my CDs and entire albums are gone, some of my most favorites too!? and then many albums just a few songs or even one song. i can't even imagine what has happened and i don't even know if i can recreate them all because some albums are still boxed away in storage somewhere. this is horrible. i have been paying for iTunes match for YEARS, and now my library is GONE
