itunes on my pc does not recognize the apple tv...

The apple TV is connected to the internet.  My pc is connected.  I believe every thing is properly shared.  Cannot get iTunes to recognize the apple TV as a device.  Both have the most recent updates.  Have spent hours with no luck.

Assuming we're talking about an Apple TV 3 or 4 it doesn't show as a device in iTunes in that same way that say an iPhone does.
