Potential problem keeping Quicken data in iClou...

I have my Quicken 2017 for Mac file currently stored in my Documents folder on my iMac. I recently turned on Desktop and Documents to iCloud. Is there a potential problem keeping Quicken data in the iCloud Drive by being in my Documents folder? I have read there could be a problem having it in Dropbox because of uploading the file while it is open and creating database errors. Is it simply a matter of being sure I shut the program on one machine (my iMac) before opening on another (my MacBook)?

That would have to be something you ask the Quicken support folks about. It is not related to iCloud Drive, it sounds like it is related to the program and how it works, so they would have to provide you with the answer. Since there seems to be a problem with Dropbox, they should be able to tell you if there is also one with iCloud Drive.

I have read about unrecoverable data corruption doing this.

Been keeping data files on Dropbox for years.  You can even put the quicken program files on multiple machines and access the data files in Dropbox from both (which keeps all in sync) (Like on your home computer and your office computer).  Only problem is be sure quicken is not open on both machines at same time (in which case multiple data files will be created).  It will mark the data files as original and then another “conflicted copy” of the same data file.  Also if you do a quicken backup, it will give an error message when trying to reopen quicken at the end of the backup, because it will still be saving from the Dropbox local folder to the web when it tries to open.  There is no data loss, just the irritation of an error message, making you then reopen quicken.  You can avoid this by stopping the sync in Dropbox before you do them backup and then restarting the Dropbox syncing after you’ve backed up quicken.  Never ever had a corrupted file problem.
