Can iCloud Photo Library be configured to keep ...

This seems to be happening to me more often with the latest iOS update - I have plenty of free space on the iPhone but almost immediately after taking a picture or video, it's uploaded to the cloud and the high-res original is wiped from the device. I go to show someone the video I just took, or upload it to social media, and am forced to re-download it from the cloud, oftentimes leading to standing around showing someone the loading icon for 2-3 minutes. Would be great to be able to have the last 1-7 days of content maintained on the device, along with anything that has been favorited - at least prioritize those items, as they'll have the highest chance of needing to be accessed again soon.

My cloud library is very large (going back to 2003 from my Photos library on my laptop), and while it's nice to be able to scroll back through everything, it'd be great to have a limited timeline of content that stays on the phone for easy access.

You currently can't do that.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
