Contact App won't open

MacBookPro (15 Inch, Late 2011)

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Macintosh HD 750 GB SATA Disk 

Storage 277.55 GB available of 748.93.GB

OS:   Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6

Contacts Version 10.0  no longer completely opens. When it partially opens It locks up on a single window which is a Contacts groups list. I cannot select new contact names nor navigate within the window. In the shown contact an unusually large number of different phone numbers appears under a single contact name.

I have Forced Quit the app  many times and Shut Down the computer and restarted many times.  it does not solve the problem.

The Mail App will access the email addresses when a name is typed in the To: banner (Window).  When the Cirlcled + sign button is clicked,  the list of contacts appears in a scroll window.
