sierra periodically drops network connection

I installed Sierra last night.  For the third time today, I was told that I wasn't connected to the internet.  The first two times I recycled my modem, and got it back.  This time, before I did that, the system, which I'd put into Sleep after I'd lost the internet, woke up spontaneously and I was connected. And now, the same thing that happened to me last night is also happening, namely that after I put the system to Sleep, within a couple of seconds it wakes right back up without me doing anything. (That had fixed itself last night, but now it is doing that again.)  Probably these two are related?

Any idea what's happening and how to fix it so this doesn't keep happening?  Thanks.

Tonight after having the system in Sleep, I woke it up and AGAIN, for the fourth time today, I had no network connection.  I waited a while, and was connected again. So I think there is something with the way Sierra handles Sleep that takes it offline or something similar.  I'm still hoping someone here can help with some advice as to what to do to get this fixed.  Thanks.

Go to https://osxdaily.com/2016/09/22/fix-wi-fi-problems-macos-sierra/ and follow directions. It solved my problem.

I'm actually considering just installing a fresh copy of Sierra on my Mac, as described in https://www.imore.com/how-install-fresh-copy-macos-sierra-your-mac since I have several problems, so I'm hoping that that one thing might fix all. If not, I'll try your suggestion next to fix this one issue.

Good idea that didn't work!  First, I tried to use CMD-R and restore, where it asks if I want to load a new copy of Sierra. That didn't work. It just sat there and looked at me.  So then I downloaded and installed a new copy of Sierra from the App Store. It has all the same errors as the previous one, with the annoying one tonight being the two Mail issues, notably the attachment finder window that that comes down when I click on the paper clip not showing the top of the window, and that window sometimes just opening and closing, opening and closing.  And the first time I try to sleep my system, it almost always wakes up on its own, but is OK by the third try.  And, finally, the Network going Offline (wi-fi) after I wake the system is still happening, but only a few times a day.  So much fun!!!!  I hope that when 12.1 comes out, all these things will be fixed!!!

Hi, Larry Sochrin1.

Try this - Problems with macOS Sierra? This fix may help you.

It got rid of all my macOS Sierra weirdness.

Hope this helps,

I can´t answer your question but I can confirm this is happening to my MacBook Pro (2016) as well.

It happened when using Sierra and it is still happening using High Sierra.

A reset of NVRAM, PRAM, and SMC did not help.

I also tried to build the wifi preferences under /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ from scratch but that did not help either.

I´m in contact with my companies IT support and with apple support but no solution until now.
