Can you export the Apple Watch 2 GPS data?

Does anyone know whether you can export GPS track data from the Apple Watch 2, ideally to a .gpx file, or can 3rd party GPS apps get access to that info? Right now, it seems that only the iPhone Activity app can view/display that info.

Thanks much!

Hello Brian928,

Coming from a Garmin fenix3 HR, I too wanted to export my gpx data to a couple of other programs, and even more, to get the information on my MacBook, in larger format, using the satellite data/maps.  I discovered a little app called RunGap, which will import the data from Apple Health, and consolodate the information, and it worked fine for importing the .gpx data from not only my Garmin devices, but the Polar V800 I had also.

However, it seems that Apple either does not, or cannot generate a valid .GPX file, or even a valid .tcx file to export from the information that Health generates.  If there's another way to do it, I don't know.  I tried using RunGap to import into Garmin Connect (Not a valid .GPX File), and another program, MyGPSFiles, that I have used to lay one GPS track on top of another to check consistency, and variation between devices.

In a short answer, I honestly believe "NO". and yes, I'm extremely disappointed too, almost enough to go back to the Fenix.

From the Activity App you can share/export your data to The Notes App, email, text etc only. That file type is not supported. The Nike App supports GPS tracking, but again is just a share option to export

Hi guys,  yes it is possible!!!    Try "GPS watch workout" from the app store.

In all fairness, thats not what is requested, a separate app that records the gps track is the complete opposite of what we want/need... exporting the Apple Watch Workout to a TCX file... the data is there, but nobody has access to it :-(
