Reinstalling Mac OSX problem on old MacBook Pro...

Hello everyone, and thanks in advance for your help,

I am trying to reinstall OS X (10.7) on a 2012 MacBook Pro (non-retina) 2.5 GHz i5/4GB RAM and I'm running into an issue. When I try to reinstall, Apple verifies the computer fine, but when it gives me the option of installing, my options are blank (see screenshot). Since this computer has had issues before, I'm concerned that the disk is just flat out bad.

Any idea what causes this and how I can fix it so I can reinstall? Thanks!

Can you run Disk Utility > First Aid from your Recovery partition and what does it report?

It won't give me the option to do either "Verify" or repair.

It does sound like there is a problem with the disk. If it was recently upgraded, bring it back to the service that did the upgrade.
