Latency when recording

I'm running a 2014 mac mini i5 with 8 gb of ram and logic Pro X running through a Steinberg 424. When I record my hardware synths even at low latency like 32 samples the timing seems all off and doesn't line up with the rest of my virtual instruments. I am running at super low latency and I am running the "low latency Plugin" option. When I'm monitoring there is no latency and even when I record there is no latency but when I listen back to the recording its all out of sync and I end up having to nudge it for like 15 min to get it to line up properly. This happens any time I am recording audio. I know there is a recording delay function but shouldn't there be an automatic compensation to get my audio tracks to line up with my virtual instrument tracks? Am I missing a setting or something?
