Audio is disabled and cannot acces sound prefer...

So recently i have updated my late 2013 iMac 21' to the lates version of MacOS High Sierra and since then, my sound has been disabled and has been muted whatsoever. I have tried things with the Terminal like killing the "coreaudiod" but that activity is not even running when i start the computer. In the upper bar, the sound icon is white for a moment after booting up and will end up grayed out after a minute or so.

Several forums advise to try to go in the sound preferences and to switch the audio output to Built in Speakers.

Thing is that i can start the preferences app, but as soon as i click the sound subsettings, that annoying little rainbow-thing starts spinning. The only way out is to force the app to quit.

I also want to note something important; when trying to lower or raise the volume the dots that used to show at hat level the sound was, are replaced by kind of a stop that prevents me from doing anything.

When trying to watch a video it just freezes and for instance, youtube keep trying to reload the page in hope of making it work.

here are some more specs:

8gb RAM, Intel Core i5, 1TB storage, 21,5-inch late 2013

Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 Mo

I really hope someone can help out.

Cheers.
